Q: What is Silica Gel?
A: Silica Gel is manufactured from amorphous silica. Silica
Gel Packets binds water molecules in random intersection channels of
various diameters and remains dry and free flowing, even after fully
saturated with water vapor. Through its large number of microscopic
pores, silica gel can adsorb up to 40% of its weight in moisture and
has the highest absorption capacity of any commercially used
desiccant.
Q: What is a Tyvek® Packet?

A: Tyvek® (spunbonded polyolefin) made by DuPont® and is the type of
material that the packet is made of. It's 100%
high-density polyethylene, which is spun into tough, continuous fibers
to protect package integrity from both product breakthrough inside and
rough handling outside. Tyvek® combines the best properties of
paper, film, and fabric thanks to its exceptional strength, excellent
durability, and high porosity. Tyvek® is so tough, it resists
punctures and is ideal for use in abrasive environments. Tyvek®'s
tight pore structure keeps even the smallest of particulates from
dusting through the package.
Q:Is Silica Gel Corrosive?
A: Alone, silica gel is non-toxic, non-flammable and chemically unreactive. You will find some Silica Gel Products that are impregnated with a moisture indicator, such as cobalt(II) chloride, which is toxic and may be carcinogenic. The Silica Gel Packets we sell are not impregnated and are non-toxic.

Q: Why Use Them?
A: Silica Gel Packets
(Desiccant) is a drying agent used to combat humidity or moisture
degradation. Products vulnerable to
moisture damage need special protection during transportation,
storage, etc. to ensure that it remains effective. Silica Gel
Packets provide a simple, dependable, and economical solution for
preventing moisture damage in sealed packaging.
Q: Are These Packets Brand New?
A: Yes, all of our Silica Gel Packets are brand new and are stored in air-tight containers. Upon shipment the shelf life is up to 2 years.
Q: Do Silica Gel Packets work below freezing temperatures?
A: Silica Gel Packets will work from below freezing or past the boiling point of water, but performs best at room temperatures (70-90°F / 16-32°C) and high humidity (60-90%).
